Is there a Google Tasks widget for Windows 11?

By Mandeep Singh, who makes Sidekick, a Mac app for Google Tasks. Google's own options are described as they work today, and they're free.

Why there’s no widget

Widgets on Windows 11 come from apps whose developers build them for the widget board. Google doesn’t make a Windows app for Google Tasks, so there’s no widget to add, and the widget board can’t show a website on its own.

A floating task list instead

You can get something that behaves like a widget, a small Google Tasks window that stays in view, with free tools:

1. Install Google Tasks as an app. In Edge, open tasks.google.com, then … › Apps › Install this site as an app. In Chrome, use ⋮ › Cast, save, and share › Install page as app. Full steps are in the Windows guide.
2. Size it like a widget. Make the window narrow and place it at the edge of the screen. Windows remembers where it was.
3. Keep it on top. With Microsoft’s free PowerToys installed, click the window and press Windows key + Ctrl + T. It stays above your other windows until you press the keys again.
4. Start it with Windows. Pin it to the taskbar, or add it to your startup apps so it’s there when you sign in.

What you give up

It’s a web page in a window, so it shows Google Tasks as the website does, with every feature. It isn’t part of the widget board, it needs PowerToys running to stay on top, and it can’t take a new task from another app with a shortcut.
