Your licence to use Sidekick for Mac
Sidekick for Mac is distributed through the Mac App Store. These terms are its licence agreement: they take the place of Apple’s standard licence for apps, and you accept them when you download or use the app.
- Between you and us. This agreement is between you and us, not Apple. We alone are responsible for Sidekick for Mac and what it does. Where these terms and the App Store’s own terms of service differ about how you may use an app, the App Store’s terms apply.
- What you may do. We give you a personal licence, which you can’t transfer, to use Sidekick for Mac on any Mac you own or control, as the App Store’s usage rules allow. People in your Apple family can use it through Family Sharing.
- Support and updates. We, not Apple, provide support and updates for the app. Write to support@heysidekick.app. Apple has no obligation to support it.
- Warranty. Any warranty the law gives you for the app comes from us, within the limits in “No warranty” below. If the app doesn’t do what such a warranty promises, you can tell Apple, and Apple will refund what you paid for it. Apple has no other warranty obligation for the app.
- Claims. We, not Apple, deal with any claim about the app: that it fails a legal or regulatory requirement, a claim under consumer protection, privacy or similar law, a product liability claim, or a claim that the app or your use of it infringes someone else’s intellectual property.
- Export rules. By using the app you confirm that you’re not in a country under a United States government embargo or designated by it as supporting terrorism, and that you’re not on any United States government list of prohibited or restricted parties.
- Other services. When you use the app, you also follow the terms of services it works with, such as Google’s terms for your Google account.
- Apple can enforce this agreement. Apple and its subsidiaries are third-party beneficiaries of this licence agreement, and once you accept it, Apple may enforce it against you.
The rest of these terms, including the governing law below, apply to the app as well.
Sidekick for AI
Sidekick for AI is a web service that connects your Google Tasks to AI apps you choose, such as Claude or ChatGPT, through the Model Context Protocol (MCP).
- Your account. A Sidekick for AI account is created the first time you connect an AI app, or when you set one up on your account page. You can delete it at any time from your account page; the privacy policy says what remains.
- The AI app acts on your instructions. When you connect an AI app, it reads and changes your Google Tasks through Sidekick for AI when you ask it to. AI apps can misunderstand a request or make mistakes, so check changes that matter to you. The AI app is made by another company, and its own terms and privacy policy apply to it; we don’t control what it does.
- Deletes are confirmed first. Every delete starts with a preview that lists exactly which tasks would be deleted, and nothing is deleted until you approve that preview. A single delete can include up to 200 tasks. Google Tasks has no bin, so deleted tasks can’t be recovered.
- The free plan includes reading, searching, reviewing, adding, editing, completing and moving tasks with no daily count, up to 10 single deletes and 1 bulk delete of up to 50 tasks a day, 2 task lists (My Tasks and one more) and 1 Google account. Daily counts reset at 00:00 UTC. Premium and the Founder Edition remove the daily delete counts and the list limit, and allow up to 3 Google accounts.
- Fair use. Everyday use has no count, but each account has a daily limit on the requests it can make to Google, far above what a person uses, so that automated scripts or an AI app stuck in a loop can’t overwhelm the service or Google’s limits. When it’s reached, the service pauses for that account until 00:00 UTC. At times of very high demand, free use may pause until Google’s daily limit resets at midnight Pacific time, and at the busiest times only changes you ask for go through, on every plan, until then.
- Changes to the service. We may add, change or remove tools, and adjust limits, to keep the service working well. We’ll update the docs to match, and if a change takes away something you’ve paid for, we’ll tell you first.
Purchases
- The free plan of Sidekick for Mac and of Sidekick for AI has no time limit and needs no purchase.
- Premium is an auto-renewing subscription. In the App Store it’s $0.99 a month or $8.99 a year (US prices; the store shows the price in your own currency). You can also buy it on the web, as offered on the pricing page. It includes every Premium feature in the Sidekick apps and Sidekick for AI without the free plan’s limits.
- Renewal. A subscription renews automatically at the end of each month or year, and the renewal is charged to the same account, unless you cancel it at least 24 hours before the end of the current period.
- Cancelling. Cancel a subscription bought in the App Store in your Apple ID’s subscription settings; cancel one bought on the web from your Sidekick for AI account page. Cancelling stops the next renewal, and Premium keeps working until the end of the period you’ve paid for. The free plan keeps working after that.
- Price changes. If the price of Premium changes, you’ll be told before it applies to your subscription, as the App Store or our payment provider requires.
- The Founder Edition is a one-time, non-renewing purchase of Premium for life: every Premium feature, now and later, including Sidekick for AI, for as long as we develop and offer Sidekick. It is sold to a limited number of early users and then removed from sale. People who bought it keep it.
- Family Sharing is turned on for Premium and the Founder Edition bought in the App Store, so the people in your Apple family can use them on their own devices. Purchases made on the web are for one Sidekick account.
- Payments. Apple sells App Store purchases. Premium and the Founder Edition bought on the web are sold by our payment provider, which acts as the seller (merchant of record) and handles payment and sales tax. Its terms of sale also apply to web purchases. We never see your card details.
- Refunds. Refunds for App Store purchases are handled by Apple: request one at reportaproblem.apple.com. For a purchase made on the web, write to support@heysidekick.app. Purchases on the web are refunded through our payment provider. Your rights under consumer law where you live always apply.
Your Google account
Sidekick for Mac and Sidekick for AI each work with your Google Tasks through Google’s official API, using the permission you give on Google’s sign-in page. You can withdraw that permission at any time from your Google Account. Your use of Google Tasks stays subject to Google’s own terms. Sidekick is not made by, endorsed by or affiliated with Google.
Sidekick for Mac acts only when you ask it to: if you complete, edit, move or delete a task in Sidekick, the same change is made in Google Tasks. Sidekick for AI acts when the AI app you connect asks it to, on your instructions. Your tasks are kept by Google, so neither is a backup of them.
When things change outside our control
Sidekick depends on Google Tasks and on macOS, and Sidekick for AI also depends on the AI apps you connect and on the Model Context Protocol. If Google changes or withdraws its Tasks API, Apple changes macOS, or an AI app changes how it connects, parts of Sidekick may stop working until we can update it, or for good if no update is possible. We’ll say so on this site, in the app and in the docs when we know.
Acceptable use
Please don’t use Sidekick or Sidekick for AI to break the law, to break Google’s, Apple’s or an AI app’s terms, or to interfere with Google’s services or ours. Don’t try to get around the free plan’s limits, share your account, or use Sidekick for AI for anything other than your own Google Tasks. Don’t copy, resell or redistribute the app except as the licence above allows. We may suspend an account that breaks these rules, and we’ll tell you why.
No warranty
We work hard to make Sidekick and Sidekick for AI reliable, but they are provided as they are, without warranties beyond those the law requires. We aren’t responsible for what an AI app you connect does or says, or for changes it makes on your instructions. To the extent the law allows, we aren’t liable for indirect or consequential losses, or for lost data, arising from your use of Sidekick or Sidekick for AI. Nothing in these terms limits rights you have under consumer law where you live.

Governing law
These terms are governed by the laws of India, and the courts in Delhi, India have jurisdiction over any dispute about them. That doesn’t take away your right to bring a claim in the courts where you live, or the protections your own country’s consumer law gives you.
Changes to these terms
If we change these terms, we’ll update this page and the date above. If a change affects what you’ve already bought, we’ll tell you in the app, or by email for Sidekick for AI, before it applies.
