How to use Google Tasks with ChatGPT
ChatGPT's built-in Google connectors cover apps such as Gmail, Google Calendar and Google Drive, but not Google Tasks. To use Google Tasks in ChatGPT, add an MCP server for Google Tasks as a custom connector, on a ChatGPT plan that allows custom connectors.

Option 1: paste your list into a chat
Copy your tasks out of Google Tasks and paste them into ChatGPT, then ask it to sort them, plan your week or spot duplicates.
Good for: a quick one-off, on any plan. The catch: ChatGPT works on a copy. Any change you agree on, you make in Google Tasks yourself.
Option 2: connect an MCP server for Google Tasks
ChatGPT can use outside tools through custom connectors, which are MCP servers. Add one for Google Tasks, sign in with Google, and ChatGPT can read and change your tasks when you ask.
- Check that your ChatGPT plan allows custom connectors. On business plans, an admin may need to allow them first.
- In ChatGPT’s settings, open Apps & Connectors and turn on Developer mode under Advanced settings.
- Create a connector with the server’s address, and choose OAuth for authentication.
- Sign in with your Google account when asked.
Sidekick for AI is a hosted MCP server for Google Tasks from the makers of Sidekick for Mac, coming soon. It previews every delete and waits for your yes. See connecting it to ChatGPT.
Good for: keeping ChatGPT and Google Tasks in step, so changes show on your phone and in Gmail. The catch: it needs a ChatGPT plan with custom connectors.
You can also run an open-source Google Tasks MCP server yourself, as described in the Google Tasks MCP guide, but ChatGPT connects from the web, so the server has to be reachable from the internet.
