Remove duplicate tasks

Ask your AI app to find duplicate tasks. Sidekick for AI groups likely copies, picks the one to keep in each group, and shows exactly what would be deleted. Nothing is deleted until you approve that preview.

Sidekick for AI is coming soon, with Sidekick for Mac. These pages describe how it works at launch.

1. Find them

Ask “Do I have any duplicate tasks?” or “Find the duplicates in my Work list.” Sidekick for AI groups tasks with the same or nearly the same title, in one list or across lists. Finding duplicates only reads, so it has no daily count on any plan.

2. See what’s kept and what goes

In each group it suggests one task to keep, and says why: the oldest, or the one with notes, steps or a due date. Tell the AI if you’d rather keep a different one. It then shows you the preview: every task that would be deleted, with its list, due date and any steps that go with it.

3. Approve

Only when you say yes does the AI delete exactly the tasks in that preview. If any of them changed since the preview, it stops and shows you a new one. Apps such as Claude may also ask for your permission before the delete runs.

Google Tasks has no bin, so deleted tasks can’t be recovered. That’s why the preview always comes first.

Limits

One delete can include up to 200 tasks. The free plan includes one bulk delete a day of up to 50 tasks, and 10 single deletes; Premium has no daily limit. If a delete is over the free plan’s limit, the preview says so before you approve anything. See plans and limits.
