Questions
The most common questions about Sidekick for AI, the MCP server for Google Tasks.
Sidekick for AI is coming soon, with Sidekick for Mac. These pages describe how it works at launch.
Is Sidekick for AI made by Google?
No. It's made by the independent developer of Sidekick for Mac, and uses Google's official Tasks API. You sign in on Google's own page, so it never sees your password.
Do I need Sidekick for Mac?
No. Sidekick for AI runs on the web and works on its own. One Premium covers both, if you use both.
Which AI apps work with it?
Apps that connect to remote MCP servers with a sign-in, such as Claude, ChatGPT, Cursor, Claude Code and VS Code. Some apps allow custom connectors only on certain plans.
What happens to deleted tasks?
They're deleted from Google Tasks, which has no bin, so they can't be recovered. That's why every delete starts with a preview you approve.
Can the AI change tasks without asking me?
It changes tasks when you ask it to. It never deletes anything without showing you a preview and getting your yes first.
How do I cancel Premium?
In the App Store's subscription settings if you subscribed there, or from your Sidekick for AI account page if you subscribed on the web. The free plan keeps working.
When can I use it?
Sidekick for AI launches together with Sidekick for Mac. Both are coming soon.
