Getting started
Install Sidekick from the Mac App Store, choose Connect Google Tasks… from its menu bar icon, allow access to Google Tasks, and your tasks appear on your desktop in a few seconds.
Sidekick for Mac is coming soon, with Sidekick for AI. These pages describe how it works at launch.
Set up
- Install Sidekick from the Mac App Store and open it. Its icon appears in the menu bar. It needs macOS 15 Sequoia or later.
- Connect your Google account. Click the menu bar icon and choose Connect Google Tasks…. Your browser opens Google’s own sign-in page, so Sidekick never sees your password.
- Allow access to Google Tasks. Your tasks appear on your desktop within a few seconds.
- Put the stack where you want it. Drag it by its header anywhere on any screen; near the left or right edge, it docks there. It stays above your other windows.
The stack
The header shows today: how many of today’s tasks are done, how many are overdue, and a bar that fills as you go. The first task is a large Up next card with Complete; the rest are compact cards under it.
- Tick a task off with its checkbox. Undo appears in the header for a few seconds.
- Edit a task by clicking it, then its title or notes.
- Reorder by dragging a card up or down.
- Add a task with + in the header, or ⌃⌥N from any app.
- Fold the stack to its header by clicking the header. Folded, it still shows the next task.
Every change goes to Google straight away, so it’s in Google Tasks on your phone and in Gmail too.
